Acharya Harihar Das biography in odia: Acharya Harihar was born in the year 1879 on the full moon day of Falgun month in a Brahmin family in Sriramchandrapur village of Puri district. His father’s name was Mahadev Brahma and mother’s name was Shraddhadevi. He completed his early education in his village itself. After which he completed his further education from Puri district. From childhood, Acharya Harihar was devoted towards public welfare and human service.

About Acharya Harihar Das
Acharya Harihar Das biography in odia- He had laid the foundation stone of a social service in Orissa and he also worked to organize young students for the poor and needy. He completed his FA in his education from Ravenshaw College. After which he went to Kolkata to do L.L.B. But he returned from there because he did not feel like studying law.
After which Acharya Harihar worked as a teacher in the district school of Puri. Then he also discharged the responsibility of teaching in Nilgiri Gadjat School. In the year 1912, he became the teacher of Bakula Bana Vidyalaya. Acharya Harihar was the most favorite teacher in the school. He was popularly known as Acharya among the students.
Acharya Harihar established a widow ashram. Where he gave the responsibility of educating the children. And did the work of spreading the message of freedom struggle in the whole of Orissa.
Establishment of Ashram
From 1921 to 1924, he was kept in jail due to the Swaraj struggle. After which he presided over the Kendra Conference. In the year 1930, he had to go to jail during the Salt Satyagraha. After which he formed the Banara Army in 1942. Many children were members of this organization. This army played an active role in the Quit India Movement. In 1946, during his sentence in Hazaribagh Jail, he translated Shrimad Bhagwat Gita into Oriya language.
While serving at Pyarimohan Academy, he had prepared an English grammar book. Whose name is Child’s Easy First Grammar which is still relevant today. He was also greatly influenced by Mahatma Gandhi. He dedicated his life in the service of the Ashram and Khadi Center.
Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das and Acharya Harihara
He left the PyariMohan Academy to join the almost-opened Satyabadi Open Air School, which was to be held in the lush green groves of Vakula and Churiana in Sakhigopal. In fact, the school was the brainchild of Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das and Acharya Harihara.
The school came into existence due to the persistent efforts of Neelkanth, Godavarish, Kripasindhu, Basudev and Anant. As the superintendent of the hostel, he became popular among the students. All the students referred to teachers as ‘Pandits’ except Harihara, Harihara was referred to by them as ‘Acharyas’.

He breathed his last on 21 February 1971 at the age of 96.
